The BMW 1- Series

The BMW 1 Series is a series of small cars that BMW has produced since 2004. There are several in the series that all have one thing in common, and that is that they are still luxurious, but are considered to be smaller than the other cars that BMW offers. These were the cars that were successors to the BMW compact, which just goes to show how small that they are considered when compared to the larger cars that BMW produces. However, with that being said, they are still some of the most popular family cars that people can buy since they are made by the famous automaker that is known for performance and durability.

Within the 1 series, there are two generations of these cars, and four models with a fifth model planned for 2012. The first model of the series 1 is the E87, which was a five door hatchback that was launched in 2004. This was meant to be the introduction vehicles that was considered on the lower end of the luxury pole and performance figures. However, they introduced the E81 in 2007 that was a three door hatchback in response to those that wanted something different from the E87. Both of these cars are those with rear wheel drive, the only offered by BMW at all. This is one reason that they are both still very popular and still available for purchase today.

In the same year as the E87, BMW also released the E82, which was their series coupe. The E88, which is the convertible version of the coupe was also introduced in 2007 in most areas of the world, however, they did not hit the United States market until 2008. Both of these cars were considered to be some of the most luxurious that people have ever seen and because of this they did become more popular and more sought after than the Lexus brand, which was the first time that the brand had been out ranked by another car company. And still today, BMW is still considered above and beyond what Lexus can offer since they make sure that luxury is an element in all of their vehicles, as well as performance being a variant that is factored in as well.

All of these cars are still in production now. Come 2012, the series 1 line is expected to get a fresh introduction of models in the lineup. However, there has not been much information released on the topic, and no one knows for sure what this will be. But, the rumor has stated that the new model to the series 1 lineup will be based on the F20 concept. For those that are looking for information on the car, then they are out of luck, as BMW is making sure that there is no information that is being leaked before they are ready to make a decision on what direction that they are going to go in.
